The Story of Bianca (From Coffee on Tuesday)

The following is a column posted as a MySpace bulletin on August 18, 2008. My modern day commentary can be found after my italicized signature.

The Story of Bianca

Isn't it amazing how two people fall in love? I mean it all starts with a look, a smile, an accidental bumping in to, or a call to the wrong number. Whatever it is, some sort of psychological connection is made. You may not be able to pin-point it at first, in fact it may take several months, and in most cases you cannot pin-point it at all. Sure there are the many "default" excuses why you like a person. "She has such a great personality", "He has beautiful eyes", or "She's good in bed". People will tell their friends ANYTHING as to why they are attracted to their significant other. Now even though the relationship between Bianca and myself never left a hug, dance, or text message; there was a strong psychological attraction that may have been mistaken as a crush.

I think we met at a dance. If that's correct then it was the "Hollywood Homecoming" back in October of 2007. WOW, we've known each other almost a year. She must have, understandibly, thought I was cute because she requested me as a friend the very next day and messaged me immediately after I approved her request. Sorry B, I really didn't remember you. It's kinda funny, and ironic, how we became close.

I went to Las Vegas in March. We stayed at the Mandalay Bay, went to the Hoover Dam, and rode the monorail to the different hotels. To make a long story short, so did Bianca. It seems as though I was one step behind her the whole time. The weird thing is I was just starting to like her before we went so I thought about her the whole time. I thought about texting her but never did. I thought of calling her to say hi, but didn't . When I got home I went on her profile and saw her pictures. That's when I texted her, too late. We had hours of conversation after that. I told myself that she was the one and didn't give up on her until spit my gum at Kathryne at prom. I gave up Kathryne for Bianca, I gave up Bianca for Kathryne, and shortly after, I gave up on love. However I know that until this day, if either one wanted to get back into a relationship with me, I would be a sucker for a beautiful girl, just like I always was. I guess the more things change, the more they really DO stay the same.

Oh boy…

“To make a long story short…”

NO, BRENDON! You’re a writer. You have an active readership. Tell them the long story, for fuck’s sake.

To make a long story short, Bianca was a girl I liked in my sophomore year who clearly had little interest in me. I had a thing back then for girls who did not like me back. I remember this weekend pretty clearly. We did continue to just miss each other all weekend. The movie Serendipity comes to mind, but that’s really about as far as the story goes. I had a crush on a girl who was probably only interested in a friendship and I was going to ask her to be my girlfriend on my birthday that year, the last day of school before summer. That same day, she started dating a teacher’s son and ruined my 15th birthday. Bitch.

I don’t know her anymore. I haven’t spoken to her, or even thought about her since circa 2009, but I hope she’s doing well.

I also hope her next birthday is ruined.
